Precautions for using Yankauer suction tube
When using the Yankauer suction tube, the core objective is to strike a balance between efficient suction and tissue preservation. Here are some key clinical considerations:choose the appropriate size, strictly adjust the negative pressure, standard operating procedures,be aware of the risk of blockage, strict aseptic techniques, tube removal and finishing.

Composition and Function of the Yankee Suction Tube
The Yankee suction tube is one of the most common suction tubes used in operating rooms and wards, named after its inventor, Emil Yankauer. It consists of several parts, including the tip, handle, tube body, and vent. Its design aims to effectively remove blood and body fluids during surgery while avoiding damage to fragile tissues.

How do hysterosalpingography catheter work
Hysterosalpingography catheter is also abbreviated as HSG catheter. It can be simply understood as a precisely positioned fluid delivery channel. Its core task is to accurately place the catheter tip in the appropriate position in the uterus while ensuring the patient's comfort, and then safely and adequately inject contrast agent into the uterine cavity and fallopian tubes to achieve clear medical imaging diagnosis.

Types and differences of single-lumen urinary catheters
The single-lumen catheter is the simplest type of catheter in terms of structure. You can think of it as a disposable, straight, thin tube that goes in and out of the bladder, but is not left inside. The main differences lie in the materials used and their specific applications.

Are endotracheal tubes with cuffs suitable for use in children
Endotracheal tubes with cuffs can be used in children and offer some advantages. However, caution is necessary to ensure that the pressure exerted on the tracheal wall is not excessive. Inflating the cuff arbitrarily is not recommended when the intracuff pressure is unknown. N2O can diffuse into the cuff and significantly increase the intracuff pressure. Future developments in pediatric-specific endotracheal tubes may reduce the incidence of complications.

The function of a hysterosalpingography catheter
Hysterosalpingography catheter is a key instrument used in hysterosalpingography (HSG) procedures. Simply put, its core function is to act as a precise delivery channel, allowing for imaging of the uterus and fallopian tubes under X-ray or ultrasound guidance.

Advances in the application of nasopharyngeal airways during general anesthesia
Nasopharyngeal airway insertion is simple, provides good ventilation, maintains hemodynamic stability, is well-tolerated, inexpensive, and readily available, leading to its increasing use in anesthesiology and other departments. However, healthcare professionals should be aware of potential complications such as nausea, vomiting, aspiration, and nasal mucosal injury. While proper placement and fixation of the nasopharyngeal airway can reduce the incidence of nausea, vomiting, and aspiration, nasal mucosal injury is unavoidable.Even when inserted by skilled operators, nasopharyngeal airways can still cause nasal mucosal damage in 4.7% of patients. Furthermore, it cannot be guaranteed that every operator in clinical practice will possess this level of skill, meaning the actual incidence of nasal mucosal damage is likely to be even higher. While nasal mucosal damage is not life-threatening, it increases the risk of infection and reduces patient satisfaction. Therefore, we believe that improvements to nasopharyngeal airways should focus on reducing complications. Improving performance, optimizing structure, reducing complications, and simplifying operation are the future directions for the development of improved nasopharyngeal airways, and the clinical effectiveness of these improved airways still requires further clinical trials for verification.

How to properly insert an oropharyngeal airway?
An oropharyngeal airway is a simple and quick method to maintain airway patency. Placing an oropharyngeal airway can reduce damage to the oral and airway mucosa, prevent tongue prolapse, and facilitate suctioning. Furthermore, the stimulation of the pharynx during oropharyngeal airway placement can activate the vagus nerve, lowering blood pressure and slowing heart rate, which can be beneficial in the treatment of patients with cerebrovascular accidents. Therefore, knowing how to properly insert an oropharyngeal airway is of great importance!

What are some basic things to know before using an oropharyngeal airway
An oropharyngeal airway is a rigid, flattened, tube-shaped artificial airway made of elastic rubber or plastic. It is curved to conform to the shape of the tongue and soft palate, making insertion easy. The oropharyngeal airway commonly used in clinical practice is an oval-shaped, hollow plastic tube with an S-shape. It is easy to use and requires no special instruments, allowing for rapid opening of the patient's airway within seconds. Therefore, it has been widely used in clinical settings and pre-hospital emergency care in recent years.

Characteristics and functions of oropharyngeal airways
An oropharyngeal airway, also known as an oropharyngeal tube, is a commonly used artificial airway adjunct. This rigid, flattened tube-shaped artificial airway is typically made of elastic rubber or plastic. Its primary purpose is to maintain the patency of the patient's upper airway in medical emergencies, during anesthesia, or in cases of impaired consciousness.

How to correctly select the model of a double-lumen bronchial tube
In thoracic surgery anesthesia and intensive care, the double-lumen endotracheal tube plays a fundamental and irreplaceable role. Simply put, it is the most classic, reliable, and widely used technique for achieving one-lung ventilation and lung isolation, and is the backbone of thoracic surgical anesthesia. An oversized or thickened endotracheal tube increases the risk of postoperative hoarseness, sore throat, and airway damage, and may even cause bronchial rupture. An undersized or thinned endotracheal tube increases ventilation resistance, hinders secretion drainage, and may cause more air to be injected into the cuff, leading to compression of surrounding tissues and local mucosal damage. The tube may also shift deeper into the bronchus, with tidal volume preferentially delivered to the lower lobes, potentially causing tension pneumothorax. The appropriate size matching standard is: the outer diameter of the bronchial lumen of the double-lumen endotracheal tube should be 1-2 mm smaller than the inner diameter of the patient's left main bronchus.

Does the anesthesia mask contain anesthetic
an anesthesia mask itself usually does not contain anesthetic drugs; it is a channel or tool through which anesthetic drugs are delivered to the patient.Standard operating room anesthesia masks are usually empty. They connect to the anesthesia machine as a conduit for delivering anesthetic gases and oxygen. During anesthesia induction (especially in children), they are temporarily filled with anesthetic gases. The anesthetic drug flows from the anesthesia machine's vaporizer and is delivered to the mask via tubing. Inhaled analgesia devices are pre-filled with a gas mixture. They are portable devices, ready to use, for short-term analgesia. Therefore, an anesthesia mask is like a breathing mask; it doesn't store medication, but it's a crucial tool for safely and accurately delivering anesthetic gases to the patient's airway. Anesthesiologists control the anesthesia machine and vaporizer to determine what and how much to administer to the patient through the mask.
